ANY cat that is harassed or kepvoord will bite or scratch. A cat can only take so much, remember. If your son cannot understand your explanations, I'd hold off until he's a wee bit older, the get a pet and show him, after teaching him to be respectful and kind to animals of all kinds and to never tease them.
