Tap into the competitive streak
This bite should appeal to people who have a strong competitive streak, though some people might want some evidence that the USA is not already the leader of the pack with respect to clean energy.

Here are a couple of articles from The Guardian.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2012/may/25/china-renewable-energy-carbon-emissions

It notes that in 2012 China will spend $27 billion on energy conservation, emission reductions and renewable energy. Their goal is to reduce emissions by 40-45% by 2020, compared with 2003 levels and aims to boost its use of renewable energy to 15% of overall energy consumption.

This article (http://www.guardian.co.uk/news/datablog/2010/mar/25/china-renewable-energy-pew-research) quotes data that shows China invested almost twice as much as the United States in clean energy during 2009. There is probably more up to data facts/figures somewhere too.

Good one.
