Continue drinking to avoid a hangover?
Bite notes: It's a fact of life that if you drink heavily eventually you'll suffer from a hangover, and the more you drink, the worse it will be.
There are several ways in which this metaphor can be applied to climate change.
First; the more fossil fuels we burn and the less effort we put into looking for and adopting zero carbon alternatives, the more it will cost when we are eventually forced by circumstances to change to new types of energy generation.
Second: the longer we keep emitting CO2, the more it will cost to reverse CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere, to adapt to climate change and to deal with the catastrophic effects that we're likely to cause.
Third: the atmospheric aerosols we're emitting along with CO2 are masking the current impacts of climate change, by reflecting the sun's rays. The longer we put off action to prevent climate change the worse the effects will be once we stop emitting atmospheric aerosols.

I know the type you mean, Larry; but it's a medical fact that continuous drinking will produce a catastrophic outcome.
Denial of that fact is the same as denial of the fact that business as usual, fossil fuels-wise, will eventually produce catastrophic climate change.

JR
