Billy Graham: Driving species extinct is wrong.

Notes: Furthermore, if Rev. Billy Graham thinks driving one species to extinction is wrong and goes against God's will, how much more of a sin is it to drive millions of species to extinction?
Harvard biologist Dr. Edward O. Wilson focused on the modern extinction crisis in his 2002 book, The Future of Life. From the chapter "The Planetary Killer" (pages 98 to 102):
"How much extinction is occurring today? Researchers generally agree that it is catastrophically high, somewhere between one and ten thousand times the rate before human beings began to exert a significant pressure on the environment...
For example, the 2000 Red List estimates that almost one in four of earth's mammal species and one in eight of the bird species are at some degree of risk. Now we are no longer counting extinctions in the past but instead commitments to extinction in the near future. As a result, the estimated annual rate of extinction jumps to between one hundred and one thousand species per million.
But again this number must be too low, because as the causes of extinction itensify, more and more new species are pouring in the the threatened categories of the Red Lists and sliding down the ratchet towards oblivioon. When that acceleration is taken into account, the rate jumps to between one thousand and ten thousand."
The late climate scientist Dr. Stephen Schneider of Stanford University remarked in the 2005 PBS documentary: Global Warming: The Signs and the Science,
"
Remember it took a hundred million years of the co-evolution of climate and life to give us the distribution and kind of species that we have. And to have one generation or two, of one species, US, so clawing over each other to get richer faster and we did not stop to think of the damage we could be doing to tens of thousands of percentages of the rest of the species. I think people of the future may look back at our generation and say, 'What was wrong with their value system?"
